Facebook Reels, the social media company’s short-form video product similar to TikTok, is receiving huge funding from Meta.
Viewers now have the ability to tip their favourite artists on the app, while qualified content creators may include advertising in their Reels or participate in paid competitions to make money.
Reels are short clips that viewers could enhance with sound and other effects. Reels are same to TikTok postings in terms of both format (short videos) and content (trendy, humorous, and sound-driven).
Users typically watch videos on Facebook and Instagram for almost half of their time on those platforms, making the Reel the “fastest-growing content format” on those platforms, according to Meta.

Ads can be included in Reels by content creators who have at than 10,000 followers, at least five videos, and 600,000 minutes of viewership in the last 60 days.

TechCrunch reports that Facebook will receive 45% of the money from overlay advertisements, with 55% going to content producers.
Before the launch, Facebook video content creators could only incorporate advertisements in their videos.
Users can now immediately add marketing bumpers to their Reels like stickers thanks to the new Facebook Reels overlay advertisements.
There will be sticker advertisements accessible, which may be placed anywhere, banner ads, a semi-transparent overlay at the bottom of a Reel, and other options.
Additionally, Meta revealed that shortly, viewers will be able to award stars to content creators while watching their Reels.
The creator receives one penny from Meta for each star awarded.
Since the launch of Reels, Meta has experimented with a variety of ways for creators to monetize their work, such as the Reels Play bonus program, which offers a “bonus” to anyone whose Reels receive at least 1,000 views over the course of a 30-day period.
Although it’s an invite-only feature, the Reels Play bonus program offers producers up to $35,000 every month.
Reels published by original producers on Facebook will also receive benefits, according to a new announcement from Meta.
Through their challenges reward program, producers can make up to $4,000 every month by successfully completing a series of challenges.
Once a creator completes a challenge, a new one becomes available until the progress is reset at the conclusion of the 30-day period.
